Photos of Projects: Knee #2

Because I knew what to expect, I set up projects that I can work on while sitting/reclining with my feet up. Here they are:

First up: finish the Memory Quilt I started a long time ago for my daughter. All the fabrics in the patchwork squares are from her life: starting with baby clothes I made for her, and continuing to clothes she has made for herself and her husband. I had the quilt assembled and tied the patchwork squares before my surgery. My first goal during convalescence was to stitch the border on by hand, and then do the quilting stitches in the black squares.

Here's the quilting stitches. I used red thread so the designs would show.

My second project was also finishing something started a long time ago: I made this little tatted evening bag. But the size was so impractical that I never finished it. Recently I had to replace my iPod, and bought an iPod touch. I have been wanting a case to keep it in and it occurred to me that this little bag would be perfect. So I added a felt lining, and a button clasp.

Project number 3 was to make a flute cleaning swab with a little bubble at the top so that when you insert it into the head joint, it cleans all the moisture with a twist. I made 7 so that my teacher and the rest of her students could all have one, too. They are made of handkerchiefs, 100% cotton, so are completely washable.
